Old Palm, The Daintree
One of the interesting things we learned about the Wet Tropics on our Daintree Discovery Tour is that many rainforest plants bide their time in the shade (like this moss-covered, finger-breadth palm tree, which Adrian guess was over 100 years old). Then, when a larger tree falls, the smaller ones seize the opportunity and grow toward the canopy as quickly as they can.
