After seeing the Cathedral of Salta after the Casa Rosada, we came to realize that 19th century Argentines were fond of pink for important buildings. It dominated Salta's main square, and the interior was almost as impressive as the exterior (though we were quite amused that the most of the statues of saints were labelled for ease of reference).
