In addition to preserving historic buildings, the Ballenberg Open Air Museum had demonstrations of traditional handicrafts like woodcarving, cheese- and cookie-making and shingle-making. It is located in Brienz, which is particularly known for its woodcarving, so we had the chance to watch a master carver at work.
