Two of Barcelona's most famous Art Nouveau houses sit side-by-side, with Casa Amatller (by Josep Puig i Cadafalch) on the left and Gaudi's Casa Batlló on the right. This block of the Passeig de Gracia is called the Apple of Discord, due to the visual clash between the buildings, but we were quite charmed by the it. Casa Amatller is very angular and symmetrical, while Casa Batlló's roof is intended to resemble a dragon's back, with ripples and scales.
