PvE Combat in PE

Most of the PvE combat in Pocket Empires is your army agains a group of one type of monsters. They key to success are "speedbumps" or "bumps". In PE, all combat happens along a line. Melee solders advance until they meet an enemy, then they stop and fight. Ranged soldiers advance until an enemy is in range, then attack. If they can move backwards and still keep an enemy in range, they will move back, then attack. The trick is that melee troops will stop and attack, even if they can totally overwhelm the opposing forces in their way. In this way, one soldier can stop millions of enemies for a round. These lone solders who bravely sacrifice themselves for the greater good are the speedbumps.

Here's an example. You send a fast melee unit, a slow melee unit, and a whole heap of ranged units against a whole heap of enemy melee units. Everyone starts out on opposite sides of the battlefield.

In the first round, the enemy advances, as do your two melee troops. Your ranged troops may or may not move. The enemy will almost certainly encounter your lone fast melee unit and slaughter him or her, but they will stop when they do so. If you're ranged units have a good range, they will attack the enemy, hopefully killing half of them.

In the second round, the enemy encounters your slow melee unit, stops, and slaughters him/her. However, you unscathed ranged units have another crack at the baddies, and hopefully kill the rest of them.

In this way, you can defeat millions of enemies while only losing a tiny handful of your own. The best way ro conquer overwhelming level 10 black widows is to send:

If you dont have enough lizards, you can also send a reaper to have 4 bumps in total. However, if you have reapers, you probably have enough lizards :-)
