Slate Pencil Urchin, Molokini
The naturalist on our Pacific Whale Foundation snorkel trip told us about Pacific slate pencil urchins, so we were pleased to spot them at Molokini. They are so named because, after they die, their spines can be used to write on a chalkboard.
