Oratory of St. John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

"The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist" is the most famous painting by Caravaggio in Malta. We learned that the artist had joined the Order of St. John and, not only was he expelled shortly after completing this masterpiece, but the expulsion took place in front of it in the the Oratory.
