We had a lovely view of a small canal from our room at Casa Santa Maria Formosa. It's a bit tricky to find, but it was a great choice for us, in a quiet part of the Castello district, but a short walk from the main sights and great food (like the fantastic spaghetti with clams at Osteria al Portego).
