Rilke Walk, Sistiana/Duino

rilkewalksistianaduino.jpg

A few miles outside Trieste, an uneven stone pathway wends along the hillside from the town of Sistiana to its neighbor, Duino. The German poet Rainer Maria Rilke was inspired by the views during his stay at Duino Castle (far left), so the path was named for him. Along the way, you can climb down into a WWI-era bunker for another view of the Adriatic.
