Ramses III at Karnak
The Karnak temple complex was the largest religious site in Ancient Egypt, containing a number of temples built by various pharaohs. Here, a statue of Ramses III guards the entrance to his temple, devoted to the sun god Amun-Ra and to Ramses himself (since pharaohs were believed to be reincarnations of the god Horus).
